2023 - 2024 Court Recess Order


The Acting Chief Justice Oliver Saksak has issued the 2023/2024 Court Recess Orders.

 


The Honourable Acting Chief Justice Oliver Saksak has issued the Court recess order for 2023/2024.  The Court recess period commences on Monday 18th December 2023 and ends on Friday 12th January 2024.

Judiciary Covid-19 Protocols March 2022


In light of the recent Covid-19 community outbreak in Vanuatu, the Honorable Chief Justice Vincent Lunabek has issued Protocols which the Court will now operate within.  The "Protocol for Participation in Remote Hearings" is to be read in conjunction with "Covid 19 Protocol" both were issued on the 9th of March 2022 and are available in the three official languages, French, English and Bislama.

Brochures The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Vanuatu, the Honourable Vincent Lunabek in a brief ceremony held at Dumbea Hall and witnessed by the Minister of Justice, country Diplomats, Judges, Magistrates, lawyers and court staff on Monday 3rd of May 2021, launched the first ever court brochures produced by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Vanuatu.

The Vanuatu Law Council Continuing Legal Education sub committee organising a presentation.

The Vanuatu Law Council sub-committee on Continuing Legal Education is organising a presentation for all Vanuatu Legal Practitioners and Judicial Officers on the 6th of May 2019.  The Guest speaker is Justice Peter Johnson of the New South Wales Supreme Court.  Justice Peter Johnson will speak on two cases handled by him involving Terrorism and Money Laundering.

Court hosts “Access to Justice, Enabling Rights & Unrepresented Litigants” workshop.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Vanuatu, the Honourable Vincent Lunabek has hosted a workshop on Access to Justice, Enabling Rights & Unrepresented Litigants in Port Vila from 26 – 28 March, 2019. The Workshop on the first day was attended by members of the public with several court staff and judicial officers. The second and third day was attended by judicial and court officers.  Dr. Livingston Armytage, Technical Director to Pacific Judicial Strengthening Initiative facilitated the workshop.

The Supreme Court of Vanuatu hosts Management and Refresher Training of Trainers Workshop

The Supreme Court of Vanuatu and the Pacific Judicial Strengthening Initiative hosted the Management and Refresher Training-of-Trainers Workshop from 11-14 February, 2019, at the Dumbea Court Complex.
